FRIED FRÈRES HISTORY

The History of Fried Frères dates back to 1886 when Gustave and Otto Fried were 20 years old in Vienna. They had developed a passion for Paris fashion and were also fascinated by the extraordinary creativity of the bohemian glass makers who were concentrated in Gablonz which today is the Czech town of Jablonec.
They conceived the idea of setting up a shop in Paris to display and sell the best of bohemian creations and products. They devoted their whole lives to promoting pearls and buttons that were snapped up by dressmakers, embroiderers, glove makers and fashion creators. Need we be reminded that, at this time, ready-to-wear clothes did not exist? A multitude of tailors and dressmakers busied themselves with creating garments to suit all tastes.
